SUPPORT FOR THE IMPOVERISHED

3rd world countries like Cambodia do not have any form of social security available to them. That means if you are born or become disabled you are very likely to die young and also live your whole life in abject poverty.

About Us

The Brannerson Foundation is a privately run Charity registered in Scotland with registered Charity Number SC042175.

Overview

Welcome to the home of The Brannerson Foundation.  If you have become aware of us after recently purchasing one of our beautiful products then welcome and thank you! =)

We are a Scottish Registered Charity (SC042175) based in the UK and which operates primarily in Cambodia for the prevention and relief of poverty particularly among children.

Our Foundation is privately operated in that we are entirely self-sufficient and no longer accept donations of books, clothing or funds of any kind.

If you wish to support our Charitable work then you are welcome to purchase a garment from our eBay store; http://stores.ebay.com/Polly-Couture and from which the profits will be allocated to the furthering of our Charitable objects.

Please feel free to browse our site to find out a little bit more about what we do and where we operate.

Please note that for the protection and dignity of those that we care for and assist we are deliberately sparse on photos!

Our Mission

Our mission is to try and tackle the root causes of poverty in Cambodia which currently ranks 112th in the world's economic rankings.

As you may be aware, Cambodia has the second highest number of NGO's (non governmental organisations) operating within its borders. This means that there is obviously a very large need for outside assistance but secondly that there are a great many organisations operating in varying and sometimes conflicting areas.

Since our founding we have made a very conscious decision to be different from most other NGO's in the area and rather focus our energies on emulating three of the most successful and critically acclaimed NGO's operating in Cambodia, that of; SOS Children's Village, JWOC (Journey's Within Our Community) and the Jay-Pritzer Academy.

That means that we are focused on helping smaller groups of people but to a much higher standard than most other NGO's would be capable of doing.

Our mission is:

  • To eliminate poverty at its root by educating the young to at-least the national average but at no cost to the students.

  • To financially support any child who has the potential and wishes to pursue higher education.

  • To alleviate the poverty and hardship of families with adults or care-givers unable to work or whom rely soley on subsistence farming in this increasingly money orientated world.

  • To provided financial assistance to those under our umbrella of protection with medical assistance as and when required.

Projects

We support an number of different projects across Siem Reap province.  The objective of these projects is generally speaking related to either; a) advancing education, b) enabling people in poverty to lift themselves out of poverty.

Dolphin House

Dolphin House

The Dolphin House project cares for orphaned and abandoned children in a family environment (bases on the SOS Children’s Village model) whereby the children are raised in a family unit by permanent adult family members who love and care for them. This is a very private project for obvious reasons.

Family Support

Family Support

We are conscious that handouts are not a means to an end when dealing with the impoverished. However, in order for those living in poverty to be able to lift themselves out they do require a helping hand and our monthly food packages consisting of rice, vegetables and cooking sauces provides a decent level of sustenance that can sustain these families while they toil daily to achieve a better existence.

Jobs and Housing

Jobs and Housing

As part of our drive to help families become self-sufficient and in an attempt to lift them out of poverty we are regularly looking at ways to provide them with job or business opportunities that fit their skill set. In the past this has included; giving low-level construction jobs or skilled labour tasks to the unemployed, purchasing of a motorbike or tuk-tuk to provide tourists with transportation, the purchase of a cart and supplies for setting up a shop in a busy tourist location, assisting in the renovation of a blind couples massage room to widen the appeal to tourists.

University Scholarships

Activities

The Brannerson Foundation carries out a range of activities in both Cambodia and Bangladesh.

The Brannerson Foundation carries out a range of activities in line with our Charity objects and as defined by our Constitution.  These are namely;

  • To advance the education of the Cambodian public in the subjects of English and Mathematics.

  • To advance the education of pupils at school by providing and assisting the provision of facilities.

  • To assist in such ways as the Charity Trustees think fit any charity in Cambodia whose aim includes education of person under the age of 25 years by developing their mental, physical and moral capabilities through leisure time activities or otherwise.

  • The prevention or relief of poverty in Cambodia by providing: grants, items and services to individuals in need and/or charities or other organisations working to prevent or relieve poverty.

  • The prevention or relief of poverty [or financial hardship] in Cambodia by providing or assisting in the provision of education, training, healthcare projects and all the necessary support designed to enable individuals to generate a sustainable income and be self-sufficient.

Through a partnership through our sister trading company; G4K Fashion Ltd we are entirely self-sufficient.  We ethically produce garments in Asia for resale into the Western market with profits generated from these sales used to further our Charities objects or invested in securing a steady income stream for the foreseeable future.

We do not solicit or require any monetary or physical donations for the simple reason that the expectation of these donations almost always comes with a significant administrative overhead such as; specific instructions on how they are spent or what they can and cannot be used for.  Often this creates an administrative burden which actually negates any benefit from receiving the donation in the first place and therefore it is simpler to not request them.

Fundraising

Since 2015, 100% of The Brannerson Foundation's income is obtained privately through our eBay store. We do not currently accept any form of external donation.
